Introduction:

At Heal Thy Homeless, we believe in following the teachings of compassion and kindness as exemplified in the scriptures. Our mission is inspired by the biblical injunction to care for the least among us, ensuring that every individual, regardless of their circumstances, receives the love and support they deserve.

Our Video Series:

  1. Documentary Style: Our videos echo the parables of Jesus, who often shared stories to convey deeper truths and promote understanding and empathy. Through candid interviews and footage of daily life, we seek to reveal the humanity and dignity of those experiencing homelessness, just as Jesus did with the marginalized in his time.

  2. Raising Awareness: Like the prophets of old who spoke out against injustice and oppression, our videos aim to raise awareness about the challenges faced by the homeless population in Ontario. By shedding light on their struggles, we hope to inspire others to act with compassion and extend a helping hand to those in need.

  3. Highlighting Our Efforts: In the spirit of the Good Samaritan, who went out of his way to help a stranger in need, our video series showcases the efforts of Heal Thy Homeless in providing support and assistance to homeless individuals across Ontario. Through our actions, we seek to embody the teachings of love and service found in the scriptures.

Government Programs in Ontario

Ontario offers a range of programs and services aimed at addressing homelessness and poverty. Through strategic partnerships with government initiatives such as Ontario Works, the Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP), and the Local Health Integration Networks (LHINs), we connect individuals experiencing homelessness with vital support services, including housing assistance, financial assistance, and healthcare.

How You Can Support:

  1. Watch and Share: Just as Jesus shared his teachings with crowds of followers, you can help spread the message of compassion by watching and sharing our videos. Share these stories with your friends, family, and colleagues, and encourage others to join us in our mission of love and solidarity.

  2. Donate: In the spirit of generosity exemplified by the widow who gave all she had, your donations enable us to continue our work of healing and restoration. Every contribution, no matter how small, helps us make a meaningful difference in the lives of those experiencing homelessness in Ontario.

  3. Get Involved: Following the example of Jesus, who went out into the streets to minister to the marginalized, there are many ways to get involved and make a difference. Whether through volunteering your time, organizing fundraising events, or advocating for policy changes, your actions can help bring about positive change in our communities.

The Parable of the Good Samaritan

25 And behold, a certain [a]lawyer stood up and tested Him, saying, “Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?”

26 He said to him, “What is written in the law? What is your reading of it?

27 So he answered and said, “ ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind,’ and ‘your neighbor as yourself.’ ”

28 And He said to him, “You have answered rightly; do this and you will live.”

29 But he, wanting to justify himself, said to Jesus, “And who is my neighbor?”

30 Then Jesus answered and said: “A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among [b]thieves, who stripped him of his clothing, wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead. 31 Now by chance a certain priest came down that road. And when he saw him, he passed by on the other side. 32 Likewise a Levite, when he arrived at the place, came and looked, and passed by on the other side. 33 But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was. And when he saw him, he had compassion. 34 So he went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine; and he set him on his own animal, brought him to an inn, and took care of him. 35 On the next day, [c]when he departed, he took out two denarii, gave them to the innkeeper, and said to him, ‘Take care of him; and whatever more you spend, when I come again, I will repay you.’ 36 So which of these three do you think was neighbor to him who fell among the thieves?”

37 And he said, “He who showed mercy on him.”

Then Jesus said to him, “Go and do likewise.”

Luke 10:25-37
